Music in the Hospital
What are the first things that come to mind when you think of a “hospital”? Stark neon lights, perpetual cold, and an endless wait full of angst? Not at Teeraporn Hospital. Its endeavor is to provide clients with a warm and cozy experience—they don’t want you to feel like you are visiting a hospital, but rather a friend’s home.
Every Friday afternoon, the lobby of Teeraporn Hospital is filled with warmth and life as the sound of a piano wafts through the space. For one hour, the musicians of the WanderPlay music project take turns playing seasonal tunes—such as those for Christmas, Halloween, and New Year—for clients waiting in the lobby. This performance series is named WanderHour.
The first WanderHour of 2026 was “New Year Notes,” led by the talented ensemble of James (piano) and Yanny (vocals). Audiences enjoyed uplifting melodies that set a positive vibe for the year, featuring hits like Coldplay’s “Yellow,” Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect,” Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” and Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You.” The seats were full. Most of the audience sat listening to the tunes leisurely, while some took photos and videos of the performance. Yanny gave intermittent introductions to the songs, and was met with warm applause. He delivered a emotional singing, while James accompanied gracefully on the piano. It was a wonderful way to start the year and celebrate a rarely cool day in Bangkok.
The founding members of WanderPlay—James, Fon, and Pleum—plan to collaborate with other musicians and artists to bring more music and energy to Teeraporn Hospital. “Music connects people and is basically for everyone,” the WanderPlay team said.
