Interview with the Intern: May

Today we talk with our first Chiangmai-based intern, “May”, a 4th-year marketing student at Maejo University who has been working with San Fun Group for four months on various marketing projects of San Fun Group and our business partners, such as Sareeviengping Hotel (Chiangmai), Bo.lan Grocer and Bo.lan Educational Program (Bangkok).

”I’ve been filming content, taking photos, and making short video clips. For the filming, I handle everything starting from the script. I also work with the team seniors on a regular basis, so you can say that coordination is a part of my work, too.”

Although May is the sole intern in Chiangmai, this doesn’t prevent her from being a part of a team. May reflected on the professional and personal growth she has obtained working with Noey, Puchisa, our senior member and marketing specialist who is also based in Chiangmai.

“I feel like every single job I do is a part of it. What I’m impressed by is how friendly P'Noey is. She’s very approachable.
I can ask her about anything, whether it’s work or personal life. If I don't understand something, I can always ask her.

’For work, I have learnt more about marketing from P'Noey, especially the technical terms I didn't learn from textbooks. P'Noey also shares experiences from her own past works and interviews, too. On a personal side, I've noticed I talk much more now. Usually, I'm not a talker, so working closely with the team in Chiangmai and Bangkok has helped with my communication skill.”

With mentors, you can learn a lot. Apart from professional development, May also shares how her lifestyle has changed thanks to Noey, a passionate advocate of healthy lifestyle.

“I drink more water now. Also, whenever we go out to eat, we always have Suki (hot pot) with lots of vegetable.”

I feel comfortable here. I can fully express my ideas, and the seniors take really good care of me.”

Self-Improvement takes place outside of your comfort zone. At the end of our interview, May reflected on her journey so far. If she has to say something to the herself four months ago, here is what it is:

"You're so brave to go for the interview. I used to be scared of English. Looking back, I’m glad I was brave enough to apply and ask questions about what the company was like.

’If anyone reads about San Fun Group, you won't really understand because there's so much variety in what we do. You have to be brave enough to ask and apply.”
